CJ - Inventor of the Surfboard Sling
My family moved to Florida when I was nine years
old. Been surfing at the Fort Pierce Inlet State Park
since I was 14. Mom would drop me off with my
board early in the morning and come back about 5
hours later to pick me up.

The mouth of the inlet is protected by two long
rock jettys - the state park is on the north side of
the inlet hence it's nickname "North Jetty."

Many years later, I'm still surfing. Since the waves
here on the East Coast are usually 3-4 feet, I use
my longboard a lot. But I'm not 14 anymore and
carrying my big board down to the beach was
bothering my arthritic elbow. So I made a
makeshift sling with rope and a shoulder pad from
an old gym bag. I got a lot of comments like,
"Good idea," and "I need one of those." So my
wife, Tricia, and I decided to make and sell
SurfboardSlings. It took us about a year to get the
design right. We're proud of the final product. It's
simple, functional and useful - qualities that are
sometimes hard to come by in our complicated
world.
CJ invented the Surfboard Sling.  It's a bit of a
hike from the parking lot down to the beach at the
North Jetty. Carrying his longboard that far was
hurting his slightly arthritic elbow so he invented
the Surfboard Sling.
Josh is a natural surfer! Got up the first
time he caught a wave!
Tricia perfected the design of the Surfboard Sling.
A beginner surfer, she had to carry her 9'6"
longboard down to the beach on her head
because the board is wider than her arms are
long. With the Surfboard Sling, she can easily
carry her own board - and so can the kids!
